Obsession....

So my dream Thursday night went like this. Gateway Theatre (the only Equity house on Long Island) was the first ones to get the rights to Les Mis here and had an open call (which is usually the case). So I got cast as ensemble/Mdme Thenardiar u/s. The role of Jean Valjean is precast. So I go into the 1st rehearsal and it's in the big grayish room in a warehouse. There chairs are set up in a U formation. One table on the right for the leads/supporting roles, one table at the head for the production staff and 2 rows of risers with 10 chairs each for he ensemble (10 men 10 women). These 2 guys I did "Whorehouse" with are in the ensemble as well, Brent and Peter. Peter is also the M. Thenadiar u/s. So we all take our seats, but Valjean and Mdme Thenardiar are not there yet. The Producer starts to tell us that Mdme Thenardiar is on a skiing vacation and we'll be here about noon (rehearsal began at 10am) and that Valjean will should be here any moment - as he says that Randal Keith (I know, you are all shocked now, right??? LOL) walks in, apologizes for being late and takes his seat. He is playing Jean Valjean as a favor to the director b/c it his one of his closest friends and his cousin. So then the SM gets a phone call and the whole production staff steps outside for like 15 minutes. They come back in and the director calls my name and tells me to stand up. He says "Julia (somebody) has broken both her legs in a skiing accident and will not be able to participate in this production. Madelin, congratulations, you are now Mdme. Thenardiar, pick up your stuff and please take the empty chair over here (and points to the only empty chair which is next to Randal). Melissa, you are now the Mdme Thenardiar u/s and we have called in another woman to fill in the empty ensemble person, she should be here within the next hour or 2 hours. He then goes on to tell us we are set up this way so that we can all get to know eachothers faces and names and characters before we are thrown into scenes and #'s with eachother. There is no read-thru b/c its all music. He then told us we had 60 minutes to go around and meet everyone in the cast and ask them 5 questions - anything we wanted. After an hour we all sat in our seats again and the dir went around the room and everyone had to read off one fact about whichever actor the dir. chose (for example, the dir would say Madelin, say something about Randal. And then I would tell everyone one of the questions I asked him). I dont' remember the questions and answers I just remember having to walk around to everyone and Randal recognizing me and then we all sat down again..but then it was over).

And that was my dream.

I am waaay toooooo obsessed.
